Rock out with your clock out: Best of Piaget, Cartier, IWC and more...

CARTIER 

Cartier has had great success with the Drive de Cartier, and while it certainly announced a few costly show-stoppers at the event, it was the ultra-slim version of the Drive de Cartier that had collectors swooning. There are now two new models– in pink and white gold versions – that provide the wearer with a slightly dressier alternative, but one that still evokes the casually automotive feel of the initial collection.

PIAGET 

Piaget was in full-blown birthday mode, and celebrating 60 years of the Altiplano – the ultra-thin watch that has been a staple of Piaget's collection all throughout that time. The new versions have been given a dash of colour and an all-new stone dial. However, the Altiplano is still pure simplicity, and one that proves minimalism is anything but easy. There are also new limited-edition anniversary models, crafted out of vintage tigers eye and malachite

AUDEMARS PIGUET 

Not a radical departure for the brand – or a new complication – the black ceramic version of its sports-luxe watch once again proves that Audemars Piguet sets the standard for the genre. The watch features alternating brushed matte and glossy treatments – it takes 30 hours to get the brushing on the bracelet right, as ceramic is virtually uncatchable. This AP has everything you want in a perpetual calendar: hours, minute, the day of the month, month, day of the week and even the week of the year around the bezel.

A. LANGE & SÖHNE 

For those unfamiliar with Lange's Zeitwerk Striking watches, there are currently two models with striking mechanisms. The first it the Zeitwerk Striking time and the second is the minute repeater. While they both look similar, one chime on the full hour or every 15 minutes (it cannot strike the time on demand), while the minute repeater – a decimal minute repeater, no less – can strike the tens of minutes at the push of the crown.

IWC 

IWC showed off a whole new line of Da Vinci timepieces, heading back to the original round case that suddenly became tonneau-shaped ten years ago. It gets a new symbolic flower of life logo engraved on the solid case back of the new watches – which is dedicated to beauty and grace – even in the men's styles. Proving a point, these timepieces are secured by beautiful Santoni straps, hand-crafted in Italy.

MONTBLANC 

A new timepiece from the watch boffins at Montblanc's Manufacture in Villeret. Ever since its earliest days, the Maison – originally called 'Minerva' – would create beautiful calibres with exciting complications to match. Montblanc hasn't sought to change that, and this year announced a special limited-edition timepiece that combines both the mono-pusher split-second chronograph and the Exotourbillon together in a single watch.
