Happy Sunday guys. Are you going to Church today? Often times, there is the struggle to find a reason to go; it is not difficult to understand why. Church today has been reduced to a mere social gathering. A place where the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life have been exalted far and above any meaningful virtue that should define the christian life. Today, we find ourselves in churches and leave only to be more determined to come back and share that blockbuster testimony of how 'you hit it big'. You leave church consumed with the passion to be wealthy...I must be wealthy...you tell yourself, it is my right in Christ. I too must be the centre of attention. Things must appear to be working too in my life..i must share my testimony!
All of this energy eminates from the pulpit where a gospel of prosperity and success, a doctrine of mammon, is force fed to the congregation...almost like the way a toddler is being force fed to eat. You will be the next one on this pulpit next sunday to share your breakthrough testimony...(Amen!) the Man of God says. Sharing your testimony and dropping your seed becomes the goal of getting accepted into this clique of worshippers that claim they are on a mission from God.
Is this the kind of church you find yourself? Deep down, don't you sense something is wrong. Is your attention after church every sunday strengthened only to make it in this world? Isn't this what we are taught? We don't need your money, we are soo blessed in this Minstry, we practically have all of our needs met the moment we think of it...says the Pastor while at the same time admonishing you to live a lifestyle of giving...this is a blessed ministry, sow here so that you can be blessed like we are..it is for your own good he says. What a reverse psychological game!
Dare i ask...when was the last time you left church determined to love your neighbour as yourself, to love God, determined to make heaven, determined to lead a holy and righteous life, determined that you can do better(in terms of doing the right thing and living right), determined you would not fall into the wiles that have characterised the 'end time' we live in. The changing trends sweeping across the world...infact, when last was the book of Revelations taught in your church? the entire book i mean...not a few random verses thrown left and right to drive home a point of view. Which of God's kingdom are you been taught about...For the kingdom of God is not in meat and drink (like we are being taught today) but in righteousness, peace and joy in the holy Ghost (Romans 14:17).
You owe it to yourself to find a real place of worship, a place where everyone is equal in the house of God(where your status in society counts for nothing), where your pastor is not the gateway to God, where your pastor is your fellow brother in Christ, where the focus is on God and heaven not in this world, where you are taught to love your neighbour as yourself and not only your local assembly..or worse, not only your church leaders. Where you are admonished to live righteously; where you are cautioned to be careful about the times we are in...it is the 'end times' guys. And yes, there are such churches! Prayerfully look around, you would find. God bless you today! And remember always look up to God not man. Search the scriptures for yourself. Take responsibility over what you are taught. God bless you. Please share this article and drop your comments.
