Rolls-Royce’s Dubai dealership, AGMC, has overtaken Abu Dhabi to become the brand's most successful and highest selling dealership in the world during 2016.
The region also remained to be the brand’s third largest market despite challenging economic conditions and political uncertainty. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced a 6 percent rise in global sales in 2016 compared to 2015, marking the marque’s second highest ever annual sales result and totalling 4,011 cars delivered in over 50 countries.
It recorded its highest-ever sales in key global markets including the Americas (up 12 percent), Europe (up 28 percent) and Asia Pacific (up 5 percent).
A number of individual markets also exceeded previous records, notably Japan (up 51 percent), Germany (up 30 percent), the UK - the brand’s home market - (up 26 percent), China (up 23 percent) and the USA (up 10 percent).
The rise in sales comes in line with the brand’s addition of six new dealerships, bringing its global dealership network to 136. The new launches included the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Studio in South Korea and an innovative boutique-style concept in Dubai.
Two models that contributed most to the brand’s growth are the Wraith and Ghost families, which were further enhanced in 2016 with the introduction of their new Black Badge variants. Another major contributor was Dawn drophead, which entered full production with the strongest pre-order book ever achieved by a new Rolls-Royce model.
However, 2016 was also the final year of production for the seventh-generation Phantom, though its successor is due to come out in late 2018.
