Uber has released a new insurance policy for its partners with modifications made to the former policy. The new policy is provided by AXA Mansard Insurance. Below is the full text of the release informing partners of the new policy.
A New Insurance Policy In Nigeria
We are excited to announce a new and innovative insurance policy designed for Uber in Nigeria. The policy is provided by AXA, one of the largest insurers in the world through their Nigerian subsidiary, AXA Mansard Insurance PLC. The coverage includes:
Passenger accident: Covers passengers’ medical expenses and death or serious injury.
Contingent Liability: In the unlikely event that the driver partner’s own compulsory insurance coverage fails to apply this policy will apply to the driver partner’s liability to other parties, such as other road users and pedestrians.
Partner drivers will not be required to pay for the above coverage. Please note that this new insurance policy does not remove the requirement for each vehicle to have compulsory insurance cover, as required by Nigerian law. As such, you are still required to purchase the legally required third party liability coverage that acknowledges transporting passengers for a fee.
In the event of an accident during a trip, you can contact Uber through the app for additional information about processing a claim.
