Controversial filmmaker, Seun Egbegbe, was yesterday arrested at the Gbagada area of Lagos for a scam running into more than N18 million. The incident, coming a little over two months after he was arrested for allegedly stealing nine iPhones at the Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, Egbegbe was said to be trying to dupe some unsuspecting bureau de change operators of $60,000, equivalent of about N18 million.
Although details were still sketchy, witnesses said that the controversial Ebony Films boss was on the verge of perpetrating the fraud while pretending to be a medical doctor before he was nabbed.
Like the Computer Village incident, Egbegbe, who became popular for being romantically linked to star actress, Toyin Aimakhu (now Toyin Abraham), up till last year, seemed to have been beaten up before he was handed over to men of the Lagos State Police Command.
Pictures and videos obtained by New Telegraph portray the movie marketer variously in a police van and at a police station believed to be Area ‘H,’ Ogudu where he was reportedly detained. Still facing a running with the law over the iPhones theft saga, he is due to appear at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for the case.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed Egbegbe’s arrest.
