The business man also known as Larry B has won the libel court case he instituted against socialite Dumebi Kachikwu.
An Abuja High Court manned by Justice A.S Umuar has ordered Dubemi to pay N2million for damages and also issued a public apology for lies told against Larry.
The apology is to be prominently featured in a Sunday edition of widely read national newspaper, Thisday. Larry had initiated a court action back in 2012 against Dumebi over sponsored lies against him by the socialite to avoid payment of N14million for a Porsche Cayenne he bought.
Dumebi had acquired the wonder on wheels – after inspection – to be delivered as a wedding gift to musician Naeto C.
After delivery of the gift at the talk of the town wedding, rather than pay agreed price – Dumebi reportedly went to town with all manners of talks the car was a second hand automobile.
The lies affected the reputation of the Larry Onuegbu and he went to court for redress.
He kept the claims against Dumebi simple
1. The sum of N1, 000, 000, 000. 00 (One Billion Naira) damages including aggravated damages for defamation.
2. An ORDER for written apology to the Plantiffs to be published prominently in a Sunday Thisday Newspaper edition.
3. An ORDER of injunction restraining the Defendant whether by himself, his servants, agents or otherwise howsoever from further publishing or causing to be published the aforesaid or similar words defamatory of the Plaintiffs
But Judge Umuar tempered justice with mercy for Dumebi.
While granting all other claims, he reduced the N1billion damages to N2million – giving Kachikwu a narrow escape from bankruptcy.
